In The Netherlands there is a history in using voluntary long term agreements (LTA’s) for achieving energy efficiency improvements. In 2013 about forty organisations signed the Energy Agreement for Sustainable Growth. This Agreement requires among others a more strict application of regulations. In the presentation we present our experiences on how this new combination of voluntary agreements and more strict application of regulations is working. Is the best of two worlds combined or is the combination undermining the existing system of voluntary agreements?
The progress in actions resulting from the Energy Agreement dealing with the more strict application of regulations in Dutch industrial companies will be presented as well as the first impacts in saved energy.
