During the last 10 years, IEC has developed a comprehensive set of standards for measuring losses and classifying the efficiency of electric motors and converters. These are the IEC 60034-2-x, IEC 60034-30-x and IEC 61800-9-x series. The new IE5 efficiency class, which is only used for inverter-fed motors, is designed to promote new engine technologies, which can be visibly distinguished from established motors. The use of frequency converters for variable speed control can also save energy.
This webinar gives an overview and introduction into the philosophy and application of these standards. It is aimed at end users, OEMs and manufacturers of electric machines.
